I want to learn Maori as its the language of our country. Literally, in the case of Maori placenames, which my Mother was able to translate, and occasionally this indicated a local legend.
I also think it would be fun to hold conversations with fellow Kiwis overseas that no-one else could understand. Already its probably possible to go into a pub and call out "E tu!" thus locating fellow Kiwis when they automatically stand up!
