I am a teacher in Aotearoa and belive all teachers should fully understand our story/history. Part of that is understanding who we are as Pakeha, sitting with the discomfort of colonisation and what our dominant culture has done. Knowing this and understanding this, I can fully embrace and open both my head and heart to learning Te reo Maori and Tikanaga.
My why is this is a must. I am must know my identity as a New Zealander both Maori & Pakeha.
