Learning te reo Māori has not been part of my education as a youth due to living overseas during my primary and secondary schooling. Coming back to Aotearoa, I have not learned what I see as an important part of my heritage of being a New Zealander.
I want to start my path into a teaching career and would like to enter it with the correct cultural understanding and language to be part of bringing these values to our tamariki and myself.
