This year Pikitu Marae celebrated Matariki at the marae for the 1st time as a Hapu.
We held a wananga about Matariki then at 6.15am we did Hautapu on the marae atea, called out the names of those who passed away over the last 12 months, had Karakia, sung Waiata, took our shoes off to connect with the earth while we thought of our goals and aspirations. Unfortunately it was cloudy so we couldn't see Matariki rising. But all in all it was a awesome experience and 1 that we hope will grow as years go by
