My nephew Awarua and I cooked kaitahi together for our whānau. We planned the menu, did the shopping and then cooked. Everyone helped out and we enjoyed tasting new foods. We remembered our favourite people and shared our future plans, giving thanks and feeling blessed to have each other in our lives to experience new things together. It was a fantastic matariki celebration and I look forward to doing it every year. I feel very lucky to be able to be part of this yearly festival. I just couldn’t fit me in the picture, but here we are having shared a feast, tucking in to a superb chocolate brownie. Hari Matariki!
