Language defines us... it not only allows us to express our worldview but moulds and shapes it: the way we perceive and articulate our ideas, our reality, our surroundings, our culture, our social interactions and our self-perception.
As a Pākehā, to kōrero in Reo shows respect for my Tiriti partners and allows me to better understand a Māori worldview.
