Today, the Te Ohu Kaimoana kāhui were honoured to have distinguished professor, Linda Tuhiwai Smith (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Awa) speak as part of our series of online kōrero to commemorate Mahuru Māori.
Coincidently, today's session also coincided with the nationwide Māori Language Moment as we joined forces with the rest of Aotearoa to celebrate te reo at midday.
Linda is considered one of the world's leading scholars and founding thought leaders of indigenous studies, indigenous education, and kaupapa Māori research.
Linda shared with us insightful kōrero surrounding kaupapa Māori theory and methodology, and explored what it means to be a kaupapa Māori organisation, and how can we apply this approach to our mahi.
