My first Kōhanga Reo was Ōrākei Marae in Tāmaki Makaurau. The best part of Kōhanga Reo for me was all the waiata we sang, my all time favourite was 'Kei raro i te moana' - I still find myself doing mahi-a-ringa when I think of it now, acting like a hungry mako! This photo is from the Kirihimete whānau day at Ōrākei Marae, I was waving out to my parents. Forever grateful for all the people who came before me who made my world a reo speaking one from a young age.
