Te taonga o taku ngākau ko aku mokopuna korikori e My youngest grandson attends te Kohanga Reo and I heard him speaking te reo to my daughter this morning. It reminded me of when my children were young and attending Kohanga Reo while I was an adult also learning te reo Māori- something I did not have the privelege of learning as a child. I was filled with joy to hear my cheeky mokopuna speaking te reo with his mother.

Our team had a shared kai hakari, learnt a karakia kai and learned the names of traditional Māori kai.

Remembering on this day 51 years ago, Aunty Hana Te Hemara Jackson carried the Māori language petition up the steps of Parliament in 1972 to present to Matiu Rata and the other Māori MPs. #IamHana.
