As i sit at my computer this morning, I wonder what it will be like in 50 years' time. I would like to think I am still here, celebrating life with family and friends. I hope that my beautiful children are happy, content and surrounded by love. I hope I have been there to watch them grow and become the adults they have always wanted to be. Whatever has happened in 50 years, I hope they know how proud I am of them and how extremely privileged I have been to be their mum. I hope the world has moved on from war, depression and the everyday struggle we face today. And I hope that after 50 years I might be able to finally communicate with my children in Te Reo - and that they still hold the same passion and dedication to who they are, where they come from and the language that means so much to us all. Today we are faced with many uncertainties, especially as Māori. We can only hope that these uncertainties no longer hold our Tamariki back in the future. That they can be who they truly are without judgement, prejudice and discernment. Let's move forwards, not backwards.
