You have recently begun your journey back to your people, learning your reo, tikanga and where you fit in among your iwi and it is a beautiful thing. When you open this next the hope is you are more fluent, you know all your pepeha, you have overcome the traumas Otaki holds and visited your marae as a proud Ngati Raukawa ki te tonga decendant and healed some of the wounds growing up seperated from who you are has created. You my love are a decendant from a great people who went through so much to be where they are now and the journey is still going on. You are connected to this whenua on such a deep level and I only hope that bond grows stronger with time. Stay connected, grow strong in yourself and keep surrounding yourself with strong tane and wahine to help support you through this transformation. Jump and join a kapa haka group too, you love waiata so just do it! The future is you and its for you to be the light for the next generation so they grow without the shame and stigma being māori had for you growing up, show them to be proud, strong and set firm and nurturing foundations into their being because Māori are resilient and being Māori is nothing to be ashamed about. Kia kaha my girl, be strong and confident in who you are as your tipuna stand proudly supporting you the whole way. Xx
