Kia ora future. To give you context, AI has just been launched, we made it through Covid, you get the hint. I am an immigrant who came here only a few years ago from Europe. Through extensive training to become a counsellor, I learned about Aotearoa's history, socioeconomic disparities, our unique location and it's implications, but above all, I learned to reflect on my own role in colonisation and the white privilege I carry. I have vowed to myself to do everything in my power to combat biases, stereotypes, and racism. With the work I do, I hear many sad stories and I truly belive that reclaiming te reo Māori is one of many ways to heal Aotearoa. I hope that in 50 years, te reo will be even more incorporated and that the younger generation will grow up speaking te reo Māori.
