Kia ora future friends,
We are the Rūma Whā, Year 2 students of 2025 at Te Uru Karaka Newton Central School in Aotearoa! We're writing this for you, the students of 2075. It's a bit strange to think that you'll be reading this in fifty years' time. What's life like for you?
Right now, in 2025, we're a class of amazing six and seven-year-olds. We love to play, learn, and have fun together. We spend our days learning te reo Māori, reading and writing, learning new maths strategies, and making art with bright paints. Our favourite games are creating tree huts in the ngāhere and building with LEGOs. Our teacher reads us the best stories. We love running on the grass and splashing in puddles when it rains.
We wonder what your world is like. Do you still go to school in a classroom, or do you learn in a different way? Are there flying cars? Do you have robots that help you with your homework? We hope you still have amazing playgrounds and lots of time to play outside with your friends.
We want you to know that we are thinking of you. We hope that you are happy, kind to each other, and that your world is a safe and beautiful place. We're sending you all our hopes and dreams for a wonderful future.
Ngā mihi nui,
Rūma Whā, Year 2 Class of 2025
