Activities

Kia ora koutou, This Matariki we will be joining our whānau, tamariki, and mokopuna to celebrate and share kai. We will be at a celebration night in our whānau Marae with kai, crafts, crystals and gifts. There will be music, lots of people from the community and of course a hangi! We will be remembering our tūpuna wahine, tūpuna tāne and family members who have passed on. It will be wonderful to be together, while also thinking about our Tupuna. Mānawatia a Matariki tēnā tatoa koutou!

I am learning te reo Māori because te reo is a taonga. I am a Wahine Pakeha with a Ngai Tahu husband, tamariki and mokopuna. I am also a kaiako. I am determined to become a fluent speaker to nurture and uplift our beautiful language. I believe we have a responsibility to uphold the language and to make sure it is the sound, meaning and everyday experience of living in Aotearoa. Kia kaha tātou Ki te kōrero Māori!
