nib Celebrating Maori Language Week

All employees at nib health insurance nz have been undertaking a Maori language and culture course for the past 5 weeks, with another 5 weeks to go. The course is facilitated by Ngati Whatua Orakei and created especially for nib. For the Maori Language Moment, we asked our team to share some of the things that stood out for them so far in the learning, and this was shared on our internal communication platform, Workplace by Facebook. We also created a video displaying some of our leaders speaking te reo.

Kia ora, I have written a dog safety education book, and recently released it, 'Dog safety education with Peaches and Rangi' it is in both Te reo and English, I wrote this book especially to keep our tamariki safe, My mahi is called Kelsview dog safety education. My kuri is called Peaches, she has helped hundreds of children to keep safe, here we are at a local kindergarten, having just read our new book to the tamariki. . We are contracted out to Rangitikei District council and Manawatu District council, where we educate dog safety in schools and kura. Nga mihi Kelly Jordan

Maori language is part of who I am and I need to learn it. It's a responsibility I feel I have to learn for my child also. Also hope to find my grounding and who I am through the language.
