For me, Maori culture and traditions mean connection to the whole: connection to self, connection to others, connection to nature and the universe. Without a deeper understanding and engagement with our national culture, I feel a piece of my identity as a Kiwi is missing.

Personally, I would like to become proficient in the Maori Language - the starting objective for me is to be able to introduce myself and any meetings in Maori, and secondly to be able to understand Maori when listening to others.
I am waiting to join a local adult learning program here on Waiheke Island, once they start again. I prefer to learn in person, and would like to learn with the combination of Music and movement as well.
