I wish I had been taught Maori at school in the 1970s. I wish we had been taught New Zealand history at school.I wish I knew more than a few basic greetings and could say place names properly and know more about the local history of places. Today I will say Kia ora when I greet anyone and will continue to do it for the rest of the week.
