Jesamine Wanoa

I'm studying full-time at MIT in the Horticulture department. This is their last year of operation. I want to return home to live eventually in Te Araroa, to strengthen our iwi with what I've learned. While I'm still in Tamaki Makaurau, I want a teacher-aide role in a pro Reo Maori mainstream school, so I can help Maori / Tauiwi / Pakeha kids here understand the Maori perspective on te tiriti, te ngahere, te moana, te whenua, te reo Maori. Once I'm more confident in Te Reo Maori, then I hope to return home to support the teaching of these kaupapa, firstly from my marae base at Awatere Marae, with a vision to including other Marae in neighbouring rohenga. The end goal is to involve our own local Kohanga Reo / Kura Kaupapa / Wananga, so that we can grow our own taxonomists, biologists, horticulturalists, agriculturalists, etc.
