Warwick Carroll
I'm planning to learn Te Reo Maori: basically for the following reasons:
1. I have 5 children one Is a teacher in Brisbane and has is very interested in the plight of Maori and Aborigine. I want to encourage him and know he will pass this interest onto his 2 daughters. 2. The other 4 Children are disinterested, but are encouraging me in my plans.
3. I have 11 grandchildren, one of whom is part Maori. She lives in Sydney, but, every time she comes to see us, she visits her step siblings in Ngaruawahia to keep in touch with her heritage.
4. I have always been interested in the work of the Howard League and the labours of Mike Williams in particular; organizing and executing basic literacy and numeracy agendas in correction facilities to assist inmates in their entrance back into society.
5. maybe other opportunities will crop up along the way.
