We are a Community Beginners Computer class Roopu that meets every Monday from 10-12. We will be singing the waiata - Tutira Mai ra iwi.

Literacy Aotearoa Charitable Trust We wanted to normalise some everyday phrases and move beyond 'Kia ora'. As part of our national approach all Literacy Aotearoa personnel were encouraged to use, " Kei te pēhea koe? and " Kei te pai ahau" as part of their day-to-day kōrero with learners, with one another, answering the telephone, or through email. We used these phrases as part of greeting one another when we came into our weekly Zoom National Karakia. Ngā mihi to all Literacy Aotearoa personnel for their enthusiasm in taking up the phrases and for continuing to use them as part of their daily mahi.

Manogi

Literacy Aotearoa staff came together for a Zoom hui. We shared aroha, karakia and waiata. We acknowledge Dr Rangimarie Turuki Arikirangi Rose Pere, of Tūhoe, Ngāti Ruapani and Ngāti Kahungunu, who passed away in 2020 and who gifted our organisation our karakia - Āio. It is a gift that regularly brings us together. Kia kaha te reo Māori - kia kaha Aotearoa!

Literacy

We held a learner presentation event. I welcomed everyone in te reo. We sang Te Aroha as a group, to celebrate Te wiki o Te reo Maori. We had a karakia in Te reo before sharing kai.

Carol

If we don't do this, who will? The customs, history and waiata all have a part in who we are as a nation. Te reo is only one part of gaining and using the knowledge passed down in history that is unique to Aotearoa.
