This year for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori we focused on the Reo and it being used more in our tari. Rāhina - We printed off posters and hung them up around the office and put out greetings that our kaimahi and tauira were using daily, Rātu - Mau rākau kemu ans tīti torea - E Papa waiata, our tauira really enjoyed this workshop! Rāapa - Waiata a ringa - Kia ora rā. Taught this to our tauria and they did amazing, forgot to get a video because we were running out of time to get them back into class. Rāpare - Rāranga. We harvested some harakeke for one of our kaimahis whenua and brought them into the tari to teach them some basic rāranga - He putiputi. 2 and 5 strand. We talked about the karakia before cutting, how to cut and that the first one you make, you have to give it away as a gift. Since it was quite a short time, we encouraged those that wanted to do their own, to find a rāranga class to learn more in depth. Rāmere - Kaihākere. Cooking boil up, māori bread and chowder this morning in the Hospitality class commercial kitchen together as kaimahi, play some tunes, have a katakata, learn about the role as ringawera and feed our whānau with a performance. Ake ake ake!!!!!!!
