Te Kura Ākonga watched a storyteller tell the tails of Tāne. We also did waiata and kēmu Māori

I ran an online Kahoot quiz around a range of Kupu and Tikanga concepts for Kaimahi in our Tari. There was fierce competition and much laughter. Most kaimahi made a note of something new they had learned.

We opened with karakia, whakatauki and waiata. We learnt some kupu in a game. We talked about the documentary "Speak no Māori". We closed in Karakia.

Mahi Tahi: we did an activity in te reo Māori together with kaimahi in our tari.

Implemented Tikanga practices at huinga ako and other huis.

A karakia, a couple of waiata, a kahoot quiz and a story for our students and kaiako across Te Wai Pounamu.

This week I have learned new words and phrases in te reo, learned tikanga that I hadn't known before, listened to waiata, both traditional and modern - and sharing my experiences with my tamariki and ākonga. My visual pepeha is short and something I need to develop on, as a next step. I have been reading 'Aroha, ' by Dr Hinemoa Elder, The whakatauākī in her book 'Kotahi karihi nāna ko te wao tapu nui a Tāne, ' reminds me of my ongoing journey with Te Reo Māori.

30 yrs teaching Te Reo Maori to students. Its time more people support the kaupapa

He oranga ngakau, he whakawhāiti i te whānu, he whakaora tikanga hei tikitiki mō ngā uri whakaheke. .
