Share how you celebrated
Share what you did for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2023. This will go on to become a showcase of how we celebrate te reo as a nation.
nib
Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland
At nib New Zealand, we believe people and their wellbeing
come first and are driven by our purpose of Kiwis enjoying
better health. We also recognise that how we go about our
business, including how we work with the tangata whenua of
Aotearoa, directly and indirectly impacts the communities in
which we operate. We work with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei through our first
of its kind relationship which provides universal private
health insurance for all members, funded by the hapū to
help improve their health and wellbeing outcomes.
Four years ago, we began a new journey to evolve the
way we connect with Te Ao Māori, the Māori world. As
a business based in Tāmaki Makaurau, we recognised
a need for us to better understand and incorporate the
cultural heritage of the land where nib New Zealand is
based.
At nib New Zealand, we have been on a journey of cultural
change. We have committed to properly recognising
the importance of Te Ao Māori and are continually
learning. We have immersed ourselves in the culture, and will continue to do so.
Celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is just one way we can acknowledge, learn and embed te reo and tikanga into our business.
