Activities

I whakaroko au i te waiata ‘te taukaea aroha’. I kōwhiria te waiata nā te mea, he waiata Kāi Tahu tēnei. Kāore au i noho i Te Waipounamu, heoi anō, ki te whakaroko i te mita, ka hoki mai tōku wairua ki te whenua.

Matahana

For my Māori moment I ran the reo Māori Kahoot quiz with my hoamahi to test them on their te reo Māori knowledge in a fun and inclusive way. I even learnt a couple of kupu hou as well!

Matahana

I woke up at dawn in Pōrangahau to see te whānau o Matariki fade away from sight into te ao Mārama. My māmā and I shot arrows of karanga up to the stars, the mārama, Rangi and down to Tangaroa. Tāwhirimātea nipped at my cheeks and hands but it was a beautiful way to honour Matariki and bring in the new year with intention and gratitude. Mānawatia a Matariki!
