My hope for my mokopuna in 2075 is that te reo Māori will be compulsory in every school so that tamariki can have the advantage of being bilingual and gain all the cultural understanding that comes from language because Māori culture is a taonga and as a Pākeha I believe it is a great privilege to live in Aotearoa (thanks Te Tiriti) and to be able to learn about te ao Māori. I can't understand why anyone would feel threatened by Māori language or culture or why anyone would not want to protect it. So my other hope for 2075 is that those silly, racist ideas will have passed into history. Ngā mihi!
