We had a mihi to the kaupapa and then shared pepehā, some of us for the first time, and whakatauki. It was amazing to know of the connections within our own stories, but also between each other. Some connections reached overseas, and some were connections to a distant history here in Aotearoa. Te reo Māori was able to help us join to and celebrate all those important links that makes us proud to be who we are. Mauri ora!
