Today we held a bit of a "Fun Māori Quiz" session where we invited our staff to participate in learning some simple Te Reo topics in a quiz format. We had 40 attendees in total. Lots of fun and laughter was had by all.

On Thursday 16. 09. 21 we invited our staff to participate in a fun and easy "Learn a mihi and karakia kai" session. We had over 40 people attend and the feedback has been great. We targetted the session towards our mainly non-Māori colleagues to answer some really key questions and allow staff to feel comfortable doing this things if they felt strongly enough to do so.

Today we hosted a 30 minute Teams session with the famous Dr Hinemoa Elder. This kōrero was about Māori Hauora (Health and Wellbeing) discussing how to use Māori values and principles in your everyday life to enhance your health and wellness. We had 63 kaimahi and haumi attend. Dr Hinemoa's session has inspired many in attendance with a number of the attendee's being inspired to attend te reo lessons for their own development. Some of the comments after the session were: “Nga mihi thanks so much for this opportunity today. Kia ora” “Kia Ora for this inspirational speech Dr. Henemoa Elder! “ “Thank you so much - feeling rangimarie – peaceful” “Ngā mihi Dr Hinemoa, was so awesome to have the opportunity to hear your korero” What an amazing and inspiring session :)

Today we ran a 30 minute online zoom meeting for staff and whanau at 8. 30am. Our host was the amazing Taane Mete. His session was entitled "Kani kani a Pāpatūānuku" and was a simple Yoga inspired session to start our day. We had 32 people attend from all walks of life - even some senior leaders who had never tried yoga before! Some of the feedback we received were: “great session guys really enjoyed that I have never done yoga before. ” “Kei te 'hari koa' ahau. I am feeling happy “ “Manaakitia - Feeling Blessed”

For the third year running - Te Roopū Māori o SkyCity (Māori staff group) have run some activations to support Te Wiki i Te Reo Māori. The SkyCity group spans across all our sites within Aotearoa and can also include Australia. We have around 4, 500 staff across the group. Understandably things are a bit tough with Covid, but we as a group were determined to run some fun and engaging events to engage and educate our people. We started with some simple online 30 minute teams or zoom, levelling up with a number of interesting events as detailed below; 1) Maori Language Moment with TRMOS - 14. 09. 21 2) Kani kani a Papatūānuku with Taane Mete - 15. 09. 21 3) Hauora Māori with Dr Hinemoa Elder - 15. 09. 21 4) Learn basic mihi & karakia kai with TRMOS - 16. 09. 21 5) Fun Māori Quiz with TRMOS - 17. 09. 21 Added to this we ran a fun and creative tik tok, video or pic challenge for staff and their whanau called "Karawhiua" from Mon 13. 09 to Mon 20. 09. We gave away prizes at every event and had a diverse selection of both our Māori and non-Māori colleagues and friends attending and contributing through out the week. 2021 has been a challenging year for all businesses and whanau, and SkyCity is no different. However, we will still persevere - kia kaha, kia mai, kia manawanui!
