Kia ora koutou
As a kaiako pitomata working with year 10 ākonga in global studies today, 23 of us participated in the Te Reo Māori Moment. We began our lesson watching Stan Walker's music video, Aotearoa and at 12 noon we learnt a whakatauākī by King Pōtatau Te Wherowhero being :
"kotahi te kohao o te ngira e kuhuna ai te miro mā, te miro pango, te miro whero" - through the eye of the needle pass the white thread, the black thread, and the red thread.
As a class we discussed how this whakatauākī encompasses inclusivity, partnerships, and collaboration and connects well to our study on human rights.
At the end of our lesson today we enjoyed more waiata: Poi E and Pepeha by Six60.
Kia kaha, kia manawanui, kia haumaru :-)
