15 September 2025, 12:00 PM - 50 years together: The Waitangi Tribunal and Te Wiki:  

Te Wiki shares a 50th birthday with the Waitangi Tribunal – both are marking half a century of honouring New Zealand’s journey toward honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Join language champion Te Wehi Wright, and Māori Land Court judge and member of the Waitangi Tribunal, Judge Alana Thomas, as they discuss the landmark Tribunal findings that have propelled te reo forward and learn about Judge Thomas’s own commitment to use only te reo Māori in the justice system.

This year we celebrate 50 years of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. Te Wiki started as a single ‘Māori Language Day’ and quickly grew to a week-long, nationwide celebration of te reo Māori. Join Atawhai Tibble in a conversation with Te Reo Māori society members, Joseph Te Rito and John McCaffery about the origins of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.
