While listening to Six60 Pepeha, our whānau wrote our individual pepeha. With our kids, 10 and 13 year old, we discussed why it's important for us to learn te reo Māori and how it helps us better understand and appreciate the world around us. We also recognised the importance of the connection with our land, which helps us see how it's all intertwined. Great to see our kids thinking about it and relating it to them. With English as my third language, I'm seeing that languages are much more than words. They express beliefs, values, sufferings and joy of a culture.
