I held an awesome little session at my early learning centre where I introduced ngā tamariki to the Māori Language Moment event and talked about my own learning journey with te reo and how I really want to improve. We did some counting, greetings and then sang our favourite waiata. 'Kina, Kina!' followed by 'Pakeke mai o mati mati' and 'Nau mai, haere mai'. Ngā tamariki really enjoyed our session and did such an awesome job with their kapa haka! This was followed by joining together to say our karakia for kai. I'm really looking forward to building onto this special 'moment' and supporting ngā tamariki, kaiako and centre on our respectful bicultural journey.
