My grandfather was a native speaker but did not raise my mother or her siblings in te reo, like many of her generation.
I have spent the last 30 years of my life learning and regenerating te reo for myself and my tamariki/mokopuna. We also opened a reorua pathway at my kura 4 years ago to provide more te reo and tikanga opportunities for our rohe and tamariki in mainstream schools.
Ko tōku reo taku ohooho, ko tōku reo taku māpihi maurea!
