Hayden | Te Wiki 2023

Ka pai! What an awesome Te Wiki o Te reo Māori. What has made this week so successful in learning Te reo Māori has been the Kaikako and ākonga effort in learning some daily phrases or kupu to support their journey.

If you are interested in what we looked at or maybe want to test yourself, then please click the slide: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Qa3jFB9_CfKH7V0hoQDp0br-uj88cuKI7q7oicJT5dI/edit?usp=sharing

We also decided as a Kura that this year we wanted to take part in the national event for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori where you decide to either participate in only speaking Te reo Māori, waiata or tākaro (play). This is to celebrate the presentation of the Māori Language Petition to parliament on the 14th of September 1972. It has been marked every year since 1975. We decided to have an informal gathering to sing some waiata to celebrate. Huge thank you to all members of Sheppard pod who attended also Hillary 8s and Rutherford 4. We performed 2 waiata and then finished with our school haka.

Kia kaha Te reo Māori.
