I have celebrated Matariki heavily with my tamariki over the past 2 weeks as I am a primary school teacher.
We did a number of scavenger fact hunts, learning about the meaning behind Matariki and why it’s so important. We learnt a tītī tōrea to e papa waiari. I was going to share the video but for privacy reasons I can’t. We shared a number of stories, we have looked at the different Māori gods. As a class we set some goals for next term that we want to achieve! Lastly we made a number of crafts, making stars and kites!
