For Māori Language Moment the Sustainable Coastlines team each shared a portion of their pepha. Connecting to nature is a huge part of motivating people to look after the environment, so we love the pepeha because it not only lets others know where we’re from, but it’s also an opportunity to share the awa, moana and maunga close to our hearts.
Te reo has a beautiful vocabulary for speaking about that connection — in te ao Māori, the environment is an inseparable part of human life. Kia kaha te reo Māori!
