During matariki, i didnt get to do hautapu, however this year was the first time i had seen matariki with my own two eyes. It was magical, and i wanted to wake the whole house up, but they would have been grumpy all day tehehe. I recited a whakataukī that i had learned the previous day , (manawa maiea....) Sat for about half an hour until i couldnt feel my nose anymore. Although i didnt get to do hautapu, the duration of my matariki was spent with whānau at a mokopapa wananga, when i thrt about it. This was meant to be.. i cherished every moment.. the laughs the cries and remembering the past.
