Te reo is an official language of this country. In order to fully participate in New Zealand society you cannot be ignorant of tikanga and the values which Māori ascribe to Aotearoa.
I also believe that as a public servant I have an obligation to lift my skills in this area, so it will benefit my mahi as well.
