For Matariki, i attended my first hautapu ceremony and planted trees on the whenua. I learnt how to make a poi keychain at the local community library. The next day I then went to my nephew’s preschool to celebrate Matariki by eating, dancing, singing waiata and listening to stories. To top it off i went to the movies to watch the new release of Coco in te reo Māori. Overall, it has been fun and awesome to hear the reo spoken and learn more about Matariki.
