Katie | Matariki 2023

Our whānau shared matariki together before half of us go away for the public holiday. We all as a whānau wrote down something/s we’re proud of ourselves this last year for & a goal for the coming year & shared one by one. Burnt them in a little box since it was raining & sent the ashes up to Hiwa-i-terangi. Because it was raining we had to use balloons instead of lanterns but wrote the names of our whānau & friends that we’ve lost & are thinking of & sent those up to Pohutukawa. Lastly we finished off with a big kai. On the public holiday for Matariki I’ll be going up to the urupa to freshen up our whānau. Mānawatia a Matariki! ✨
