Kia Ora , I live on Rakiura & am mana whenua .I have begun my journey of learning Te Reo this year & secured funding to allow a kaiako to hold wananga once a month over a weekend for a small group of us to learn all things māori together.
We have many māori place names on Rakiura ( Stewart Island ) that I chose to record a kupu a day on Facebook for the month of September, so those whom wished to learn how to pronounce them correctly in our community could do so . I have been blown away by the amount of postive feed back & people watching each day ☺️ ....I’ve tagged you in each day so far with the hashtag & shared the 14th sept video above . This weekend our group is also hosting a waiata wananga for our community.
I’m so inlove with our native language of Aotearoa, & love sharing the little I do know as I journey on this waka with those whom ask .
