I have for years ignored my tikanga because of the lifestyle I inhabited I cared little for my Whenua at a young age and now in my 30s have realised I don't know myself because of this. I'm still trying to learn te reo myself (I will be fluent) but In the past 8 months I have done research (on my own and with whanau) about my iwi (te atiawa) and I'm finally watching our culture grow in so many ways. I will never go back to my ignorance and will always put my name down for anything that I see as educational to myself and to our Maoridom.
Nga mihi 🖤
