Tāwhaki W (of Bathgate Park School) have been looking at ‘Fitness of Atua Māori’. Yesterday they explored movements of Tane Mahuta and today they enjoyed the challenge of exploring the movements of the atua, Rongomatāne (God of Cultivation & Peace).
The main focus was on the endurance movement ‘whakatō kumara’ - the action of planting sweet potato. They also focused on a leg movement called ‘waewae ruru’ - mirroring the owl (the morepork or ruru).
They ended with a 1 minute plank which was the main wero (challenge) of the fitness session. Tāwhaki students have now given the 1 minute planking wero to their parents! Can’t wait to see which parents can do it😊
