We are a sister duo who have a passion for writing and sharing bilingual waiata for our tamariki. Our main kaupapa is bilingual Māori waiata but we also do bilingual Tongan and other pacific languages.

#Kaitahi - Matariki 2021

Activities

For this years Māori language Moment we chose to go LIVE and have a korero about the importance of learning and mastering your vowels when learning te reo Māori. We also wrote a wee tune to help people remember the vowels.

What drives us to take part is our passion to reclaim our reo not only for us, but also for our Tamariki and our Tīpuna. We want all New Zealanders to want to embrace our reo and love it as much as we do!

Our whānau gathered together to have a kai (a couple of weeks ago) and to spend time remembering whānau and friends that had passed on, over the past year. . . an uncle, a very close family friend and distant cousins. Paper origami stars were made and our tamariki performed a few waiata for us. This year was the first time we gathered specifically to acknowledge and celebrate Matariki, and it is definitely a time of year that we will continue to celebrate and gather for, as we grow in our knowledge and learning of Matariki. Mānawatia a Matariki! !

We chose to jump on Facebook LIVE and teach people the importance of learning and mastering their vowels in order to better pronounce ngā kupu māori. We then sang A ha ka ma :) So much fun! ! !
