How does a tauiwi embrace the Kia ora energy this Māori Language Week?
————————————
We are celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, Māori Language Week as a non-indigenous New Zealander.
We are embracing Te Reo Māori, not afraid to make mistakes and learn.
I reached out to these amazing wāhine to join me in this video and it was an instant yes from all.
Each of us is originally from a different country or of descent. Our accents are different. We don't look the same.
But Aotearoa is now our common home. We acknowledge the Tangata Whenua and the native language of the land.
And we also rejoice in the diversity and uniqueness of each of us, the Tangata Tiriti.
————————————
The theme for Te Wiki 2024 is “Ake ake ake – A Forever Language”. It represents the resilience, adaptability and endurance of the language.
Disclaimer: This post is not commissioned by the Government, a political party or any other organisation. We are simply showing our support to te reo.
