To celebrate our Matariki moment our whanau were actually camping amongst about 300 campers, so we decided to do a Maori theme, taste testing evening of some of our favorite kai from Aotearoa. We made Maori bread and trifle, my husband carved and painted signs to make our campsite look like a marea, we also had our Whanau and friends come and sing and dance while the campers from all over came to taste our kai. We had the opportunity to talk a little about our Matariki celebration. We are living here in Hawaii nei but are so proud to be Maori. Kia Kaha.
