Kiwis should feel proud of their country's history! I am not of Māori heritage, but I'm thrilled that I was given tools in my schooling to learn more about the language.
There are thousands who did not have the chance to learn (or did not want to take part when offered) - and I'd like to try and normalise it for those who may feel uncomfortable using phrases that are unfamiliar.
