For Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, I am trying to reclaim my knowledge in toi māori by learning how to make tukutuku panels from the whenua. I am still learning how and the correct tikanga surrounding it, but making the tukutuku design and weaving them has been a hobby of mine for two years. I have also taken upon myself to read the book "Aroha" written by Dr Hinemoa Elder and read about each whakatauki. I read her words and learn with each whakatauki that I can apply in my everyday life. I sing waiata whenever I can at home in my spare time as singing is something I enjoy, especially somgs from Kapa Haka. Since the beginning of the year I have been immersed with Maramataka and use the calender to reflect on my day. Lastly, I have started the 75 hard challenge to better my health and mind and so far it has been great.
To end this off I shall share the whakatauki I currently feel aligned with;
"E ngaki ana a mua, e tōtō mai ana muri - First clear the weeds, then plant."
