The proposed names acknowledged the history of the land and areas in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland that the stations would occupy. The proposed names are Maungawhau (Mt Eden), Karanga a Hape (Karangahape), Te Wai Horotiu (Aotea) and Waitematā (Britomart).
