Learning to speak, understand & appreciate Te reo Māori is important to me because I have a daughter & I want to be able to help support, shape & guide her Te Reo Journey. I went to a kura kaupapa and when I transitioned to a English taught school I struggled to adapt and was bullied by my peers. I stoped wanting to speak Te Reo Māori as a result. Years later as an adult I realised my language was my Rongoa.
I am committed to this moment because a spoken language is a living language, Te Reo Māori is a beautiful language to hear & it is apart of our DNA.
