Over 100 University staff joined the Pro Vice -Chancellor Māori’s Kaiarataki, Michael Steedman to be part of the national 2021 Māori Language Moment. This was just one of several special language moments that took place across our campuses for Te Wiki o te reo Māori.
Michael led staff through three waiata to celebrate the moment. Ruia ngā Kākano, Tāmaki e ngunguru nei and NZ band Six6o’s Pepeha were the waiata taught in the workshop. Ruia ngā Kākano is a waiata specially co-written by Michael for Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland.
